Uses

A somewhat comprehensive list of tools, apps, hardware, and more that I use on a daily basis to design and code things. And yeah, that is a Johnny Mnemonic GIF in the background.

Data Retrieval & Visualization

  • Tableau is my primary tool for data visualization these days. I’ve created over 100 dashboards for Disney, with only a select few on this portfolio due to protected trade secrets.
  • I have used PowerBI as an alternative for Tableau. I was taught PowerBI in university, so I have an intermediate understanding of DAX functions.
  • Snowflake, my primary data retrieval tool, enables seamless integration, transformation, and analysis of large datasets using SQL. I’ve developed hundreds of optimized queries, leveraging its scalable, cloud-first architecture for rapid and reliable insights.
  • For any automation or exception/variance reporting, I have used SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) in conjunction with Tableau Server.
  • I additionally have experience with Octoparse, SyncCentric, and the requests library (Python) to scrape data via web or API.

Development

  • I use VSCodium as my text editor, with the Tokyo Night theme and Operator Mono as my typeface of choice.
  • Chrome is my main browser for both development and general use.
  • React is my front end Javascript library of choice. The component-model is the first thing that truly made sense to me as a developer.
  • For 3D effects and image shaders I use three.js. It has a large learning curve but can be very powerful.
  • For CSS I’ve used a myriad pre-processors and CSS-in-JS solutions like styled-components, such as seen on this portfolio.
  • For Javascript animations I use Framer Motion, it’s a great way to add spring animations to React and three.js.
  • For building and testing UI components in isolation I use Storybook. Check out the storybook for this website.

Other Technologies and Skills

  • I use LaTeX as my primary word processor, using Overleaf as my front end choice. My resume was creating using LaTeX.
  • I've done numerous case studies and analyses using R, with RStudio being my front end of choice. R is very powerful when predictive modeling or performing scenario analysis, risk evaluation, or contingency planning. I used this in my prior role at Disney.
  • Very knowledgeable in all Microsoft Office products, especially Excel. Should I try out for the Excel Championships next year?
  • Advanced knowledge with developing smart contracts that run on Ethereum using Solidity.
